A little bit about me

I love creative cutting and bright beachy blonde hair colours…

I have over 20 years of experience working in the hair industry. I have worked with, and for, international brands Vidal Sassoon and Tony and Guy in both London and Hong Kong. In 2015 I decided to take the plunge and open my first solo project, a salon in the heart of Central, Hong Kong. From the beginning I absolutely loved working to build my own brand. My team and I created a home from home for our clients who very much missed the experience of a London Salon.

Shortly after opening, I realised that our male clients where becoming increasingly interested in the process and routine of keeping their hair and beard groomed, at the time I noticed very few high end offerings for Men in this area (particularly in Hong Kong) so I started to create my own a line of cruelty free haircare and skin care products for Men.

In Hong Kong, it wasn’t just about cutting and colouring hair, I found from the salon’s popularity, collaborating and helping to run events with likeminded brands became the norm, I was fortunate enough to work with incredible leaders in the cosmetic, jewellery, interior and fashion industry. It was extremely exciting to work on many luxury projects and it helped me to understand what is most important is my clients experience.

I feel the personal touch of service is often missing in this modern day society, my aim is to offer high quality service in all areas from the online booking process, consultation, technique of application and finally through to the finished hair result. The experience of a hair cut and colour should feel like a collaboration between stylist and client to elevate hair to a wearable art form.

Working in this field I feel it’s important to keep my finger on the pulse of the hair industry and this quote is a favourite of mine, it is a reminder of my time with the Vidal Sassoon Academy and “The Sassoon philosophy”.

“What drives us is a passion for the creative process and a continuous search to discover new ways to compliment an individuals personality with classic shapes these are given a modern edge for the application of new techniques. It’s a liberation for the crafts person as well as the client. It’s at the heart of what we do.“

Mark Hayes – International Creative Director at Sassoon

Last year you would have found me newly returned from Hong Kong and backstage at Salon International! Seeing the UK hair industry thriving after many years away from London, I knew I had to start a Salon in my local area bringing a London Vibe closer to my home in Kent! I was often called The English Rose in the seventeen years I lived in Asia, so returning home “Rose and Rogue” was born.
